A cultural collaboration weaving First Nations storytelling by Rosemary Georgeson with music by Vancouver composer Jeffrey Ryan performed by Joan Blackman, solo violin, and Vetta Chamber Ensemble.

Wisteria Quartet July 17, 12:15- 1:30 Free Lunchtime Festival Event at Royal BC Museum!

We’re delighted to present Victoria’s rising young Wisteria String Quartet in an informal lunchtime concert at the Royal BC Museum’s Newcombe Plaza – aka the Food Truck Festival in the back courtyard!

You can sit and enjoy the music while you have your lunch – possibly obtained at one of the tempting food trucks.  Or – if you’re just passing by, take a few minutes to sample the musical fare on offer from the festival later in the month up at UVic!

The Wisteria String Quartet was formed in the fall of 2016, and is comprised of violinists Amy Toth and Jasmine Mather, violist Jaling Kersen, and cellist Claire Dresselhuis. Since its founding, the young ladies and aspiring musicians of the WSQ have continued to develop a strong musical relationship and dedication to chamber music.

Yes! the online box office for the 2017 Victoria Summer Music Festival is now open!

We’re still adding the final touches to the rest of our website, but didn’t want to keep you waiting to secure your admission to this, our twenty-second festival of mid-summer concerts.

You already know from previous summers how quickly many of our festival concerts sell out, and we don’t want you to miss out!

Once again, artistic director Arthur Rowe has lined up a roster of performers who bring an irresistible mix of musical virtuosity and compelling engagement with each other and the audience to the intimate acoustic setting of the Phillip T. Young Recital Hall, University of Victoria.

Arthur Rowe in recital on October 29 2016

Our music director, Arthur Rowe, will be performing alongside other members of the UVic music faculty in a Faculty Chamber Music Series concert on Saturday, October 29, at 8:00 p.m. Arthur will be accompanying cellist Bridget McRae in the Brahms F-major cello sonata. The concert will also feature Ewald, Mozart, Piazolla, Schubert, and more!

A waiting list is being taken for our James Ehnes@40 concert, which is now officially sold out.
If you would like to have your name added to the waiting list, please send an email to with your name, phone number, and the number of tickets you require. We will confirm receipt and let you know where you are on the waiting list.
Requests will be filled in the order they are received.
Students are reminded that any of their reserved, unpaid-for tickets will be held only until 7 pm on October 20, and will then be made available to the next person on the waiting list.

Arthur Rowe in recital on October 3

Don’t miss Arthur Rowe’s solo piano recital at the University of Victoria on Monday, October 3, 8 p.m.The VSMF’s artistic director will be performing the Sonata in F Major, K. 332, by Mozart, Schubert’s Sonata in G Major, D.894, and Chopin’s Sonata in B minor, Op. 58. The recital, part of the Faculty Concert Series, is in the Phillip T. Young Recital Hall. Tickets are $20 – $15 for seniors; $10 for students and UVic alumni – and can be purchased through the UVic ticket centre.

August 11 – Final Summer Concert – Beethoven and Bridge with Anita Krause & Duke Piano Trio

Tickets are available at the door for the final concert of VSMF’s 2016 summer concert season!

The Duke Trio (Mark Fewer, violin, Thomas Wiebe, cello, and Peter Longworth, piano) have arrived in Victoria, and will be joined by mezzo-soprano Anita Krause, who already mesmerized the festival audience on Tuesday, will perform a Grand Finale concert featuring Beethoven’s Archduke Trio and Scottish songs, as well as Frank Bridge’s second piano trio.
